The first research conducted within the Pietragalla Project begins in 2015. The first step was to gather and study the archaeological documentation from previous excavation campaigns. The reserves of the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Potenza provide not only archives to trace the history of the research on the site, but also the material discovered during the excavations of Francesco Ranaldi (1956-1965). After study, these objects demonstrate the central position of Monte Torretta in a network of routes and exchanges on an interregional scale.
Thus, in March 2016, the Municipality of Pietragalla, in collaboration with the Superintendency of Basilicata and the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Potenza, organised a workshop aimed at presenting the first results of this documentary study activity.
